if you want a linux distro, either build one or try your customisation skills on the pre builds.
As i was equipped with two machines and out of which the second one is a underpowered system with 1.6 ghz and 1gb ram, i really wanted something which could utilise the entire resources in a very well manner.
For the sake of customisation and reliability and for the reasons which i mentioned below, i went for linux distros.
1.I want to trim the os, which ofcourse i cant perform on a windows system
2.as the resources are really minimal, i cant waste a tiny percent from my RAM for the sake of antiviruses, and ofcourse, i dont want any viruses
3.meanwhile i want an up to date system
Now i've been trying all linux distributions for a while and even tried to give a shot on LFS ( but as they need another linux system to build an LFS, i couldnt end up with that), and got almost perfect match at elementary os 0.2 luna, now this is the point where everyone gonna lose their minds, as the base version of luna is by ubuntu12.04 lts and now the ubuntu already released 14.04 lts ( another elementary version is coming on 14.04 but its not even beta) but believe me this elementary people are very good in giving proper updates.
Here i could tell you why i chose luna whereas another distributions like lubuntu xubuntu and other things existed.
First things first,
1.Luna is really light in weight and comes with handy and needful softwares pre installed, no bloatwares!!
2.its much more stable than the lubuntu, i didnt tried the lubuntu 14.04 but whenever i tried its previous versions i ended up with a "Problem found" dialogue box at every startup, and believe me, an unpleasent news at every begining isnt so pleasent.
3.i really like the way the elementary people done with their desktop, and its very flashy.
