A Day With Mozillians - Malabar Meet up.

mozilla

Mozillians, Ah the term defines itself, right? The term which comprises enthusiasm, motive, urge to do good and an impeccable taste for new things.

Many of us were enrolled into FSA program by mozilla, and still we were trying hard to find some grounds, We all got mails from mozilla with all details about how FSA works and all those stuffs, but blimey, how many of us read and understand about everything, unless we experience it? which made me to hunt for some events, events which could provide me some grounds, and yes, there it was, The Mozilla Malabar Meet-up, Organised by Fahim and Nadeem under the lead of Mr.C.S Kumaresan.

I enrolled it on december via mozillakerala.org, but then i had a doubt? is this it? did i just enrolled to a mozilla event, just like that? as i didn’t got any confirmation email, i was really dubious about the same. So i sent few more participation request and later Mr.kumaresan told me that i sent almost 6 requests. Ah, Such a shame! :)

After two months, i.e. on feb 17, morning i got a call from an unknown number asking “hey is this Ruwaiz Razak? did you registered for mozilla event? i just want to confirm your presence, will you be there on calicut beach at 13:30? by the way, am nadeem” and i was like, roger that, i will be there, but i replied him with a yes.

According to the schedule i reached the location by 13:30 and those three leads, Nadeem,Fahim and Kumaresan was there as well. To be frank, i was really confused, i was in an aghast, What am i supposed to do with these people who were standing on top of me in every aspects, they are programmers, entrepreneurs, techies, and yeah they are mozillians.

So i just told them every thing, and in return they told me that, all these things will come to you once you start showing some interest to chase it down, and i believe it. :)

As its almost 13:30 and the sun was on top of us in his full glory, we chose to get some shades, and eventually participants showed up, as the participants almost checked in, Kumaresan, took the lead to put some limelight over mozilla, its mission and what we supposed to do. it was nice, enthralling, and astonishing. It really gave me a hope that i don’t have to be a terminal geek or a coding ninja to do some stuff that really matters (but yes, i have to be one, as am a computer grad).

Anush, the promising entrepreneur, stepped into the shoes to illustrate us the meaning of open web, and the situations that resulted in its upsurge. Which was really nice, even, i had this doubt before, what we gonna do once adobe makes flash player as a paid one? and Anush, described it well and as he moved on with his statements i got the answer for that question as well.

As the events went really well as planned, whats left then? well, some recreation stuff, None of the events should be left without any record, and then its the photo session!! Nadeem and Anush took the liability of capturing the events, and they did it wonderfully, here is the link which contains the full album.

in Short: The Mozilla Malabar meet up event was supposed to spread the knowledge about mozilla and the FSA’s responsibilities, in an informal way of interaction. The event was fun, interactive and worth the time we all invested in.
