Sometimes there are some moments in which you have to stand up and say “enough with these, let me bring some changes”; and at this moment i have to say the same.
3 years ago, to be precise on 2012 august 17, at 10:30 am, My self, along with my two unmatched souls landed to this place in a white Volkswagen.
We were at the heights of expectations, coz it is close to the hi-fi city in india, and yaaay, we are now literally an engineering students so that we could get lots of workshops and other stuffs and we could do what we love.
Wow, isn’t that amazing? to do what you love? Ever since i’ve heard Steve Job’s speech at stanford, i dreamt about the same. Do what i love; i didn’t chose computer science for better payment, for better lifestyle nor for recognition. I chose it, just because i love this stuff. I love to make people’s life easier.
On 1998, When i was 5 years old, i read an article in which The Microsoft honcho, the most respectable, the most admirable, Bill Gates, once said “I have a dream, the world should be within the human hands, there won’t be any gap between north pole and south pole, no gap between USA and ASIA” when i read that, i found it interesting, but i was dubious about its possibility.
But, Hell, I was wrong, after 10 years, i.e. from 2008, 40% of houses owns an internet enabled computer and VoIP became a usual thing. Skype,FaceTime,Yahoo made revolutionary changes so that those who were 1000 kilometres away from us, visited our houses every day.
As we landed there, suddenly all the excitements were gone, here we are 400+ kms away from our home, in a place which is under-developed than the city we are from, and have an ill in treating outsiders.
So, the first year, went with ragging, banging and sobbing (not literally ;) ). Once we reached second year, we made a decision that we won’t let it be like this. we don’t want this to be a dry place, Let’s spice this up.
We met principal with our set of ideas, and he helped in realising some of them, on the same year, we organised an online event which bagged more than 400 participants without any kind of marketing.
The success of Unzip, the one we hosted last year gave us confidence, it proved that there are lots of souls who wants a change, but they don’t want to initiate it. Sometimes, some needs a push, a little one, and after that they will take over.
We saw the potential in them, we saw changes in them, then we started to hunt those who shared our enthusiasm, and i must say, we are amused to see the enthusiasm in these people. They are talented, capable, and have an urge to embrace the changes.
Now, with these amazing people, we are moving as a team, for the second phase of this 4 tier program. This isn’t about, Me or my team, its about all of us, its about our college, its about our mates, and its about what we love.
Lets chant together “ we bring change”
